Ziba Shirazi
Ziba Shirazi was born in Tehran -
which was, at that time, a mercurial, chaotic, but inspiring
city. There she lived, attended school, and dreamed of one day
becoming an artist, song writer, and singer.
When Ziba finally settled in Los Angeles, she started to
realized her lifelong dream and began to build a career as a
singer and songwriter. The warp and woof of her tumultuous past
provided a rich tapestry and gave wings to her heartfelt and
poignant songs. These songs were always about her passions, no
matter what the politics nor the issues she felt she had to
address. The key word here is ‘felt’. Because no matter what the
subject, Ziba’s songs are never abstract nor intellectual. They
come from her heart and are fired by her womanly passions.
"Obviously, I am a shameless romantic and shamelessly female, "Ziba
says, "I felt that in our world, with its uncertainties and
sorrows, there is no need for more cynicism to lead to more
depression. What is needed is to identify and intensify the
beauty which, if you care to look is also there. I guess I am
the kind of person who cares to look. Sometimes the beauty that
I see is full, abundant, and joyful. Other times it is a strange
and sad beauty but, always, love, passion, sensuality, are my
salvation."
